Shake Off Laodicean Slumber!

The great sin of these end-time days is Laodicean lukewarmness, being neither hot nor cold (Rev. 3:14-15). Sinful and godless as the world is, the real battle of today is not the battle of the world, but the battle of the church.

Laodiceanism is spiritual paralysis. It is a surrender of first love, cooling from fervency to lukewarmness; profession and no possession, the subtlest sin of hell. Laodiceanism is mediocre service, indifferent praying, contentment in spiritual barrenness, complacency in idleness. It is grudging giving, reluctant sacrificing, no martyr or witnessing spirit. Laodiceanism is burdenless, passionless, spiritless – a deceived people doomed to judgment instead of rewards.

All of this evil fruit stems from Laodiceanism. Like all the devil’s illusions, it is a great deception, and herein lies its greatest peril. It does not destroy orthodoxy or respectability. The victim knows not his true state. He is content to remain as he is. He feels no need. He prides himself on his religion, not knowing that in his Lord’s sight, he is wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. He is religious. But it is a religion our Lord hates and will spue out of His mouth.

Is There a Remedy?

Yes, there is a remedy. Jesus reveals it in Revelation 3:18. He counsels, “Buy of Me gold tried in the fire.” Gold is always a symbol of genuineness. If they will accept His loving rebuke and chastening, there is hope. He stands at the door and knocks. Notice, He is not within. If any will hear (obey) His voice, He will come in and sup with him, fellowship with him (Rev. 3:20).

Hear His counsel to the Laodicean church. Be zealous; abandon lukewarmness. Repent. Return to your first love. Get back to Pentecostal fervency, purity and power. Humble yourself in true penitence.

Many Bible scholars agree that Christendom is now in the Laodicean stage of the church. Therefore, this is Christ’s latest, timely message to us. Will we heed?

Only a God-sent revival stands between us and extinction. Storm clouds are rising fast on the horizon of time!

Is this a time to slumber, to be at ease in Zion, to be passionless, burdenless, prayerless, faithless, savourless? Have we lost our throne rights of holy intercession? Must we capitulate to the enemy, lay down our weapons and cease praying in faith that God will answer as He answered Savonarola, Knox and others?

What promises of God are obsolete? Must we limit God? Must we limit our faith? Does the law of faith and prayer still operate? Can believers still do the works of Jesus? Does the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent Holy Spirit energize and empower Spirit-filled disciples today?

Is it not time enough for the saints to cease from warfare when the Holy Ghost snatches the Bride away? Did not Jesus command, “Occupy till I come”? (Luke 19:13). What would happen if the church would leave feasting and go to fasting, leave the supper room and retreat to the upper room? Cease from doubt and fears and go to praying and believing? Is not the problem of this age the problem of a prayerless, faithless church? If the church obeyed Jesus, would the gates of hell prevail? Will we talk and do nothing?

Do We Want a Revival Before Jesus Returns?

What price is too great? What sacrifice too much? Would God disappoint a burdened, soul-agonizing church on its knees? What would happen if the church would be swept with a great passion for souls and put travail, tears and soul sweat into its prayers?

Can you not discern that humanity hovers over the vortex of revolution, anarchy and chaos? Can we afford to slumber while the world passes through its greatest crisis? Will it not quickly be too late to do anything? Dare we delay in Laodicean apathy? If we fail to pray, is there any other way out?

What is the source, the cause of the pessimism that robs us of faith, hope and courage to pray through for a genuine Holy Ghost revival? Is it of God or Satan? Should we yield to it? Whence the source of this fatalistic attitude and conception in our thinking that, like a poison virus, paralyzes the church to Laodicean lukewarmness and immobility and unbelief?

“When the Son of Man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8). Pray, Christian, pray! “Lord, keep me on the firing line!”

The greatest part of Jesus’ ministry was the proclamation of the kingdom of God through healing the sick, casting out demons, preaching the gospel, and teaching the truth (Smith 2012:57). When we talk about the goal of the Christian life we focus on becoming like the Lord Jesus Christ.

The kingdom of God arrived in Jesus’ person. Our duty then is to introduce the people of the world to Him. This introduction might only be a hug, a smile, a word or a touch as God is able to introduce Himself through everything we do. But it should include or be followed by healing, casting out demons, preaching the gospel and teaching the truth. As Kwame declared:

For with the proclamation of the Kingdom comes the power of the Kingdom. Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 4:20 "for the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power. For someone to present theological arguments with regards to the Kingdom of God and not produce evidence of the demonstration of the power of the Kingdom is to miss the very essence of what the Kingdom is all about" (Kwame 2012:70).

Looking at scripture, we are suppose to follow Jesus and do the things He did by believing in Him, and also do greater things (John 14:9:12). Jesus encouraged His disciples to follow Him and to do what He tells them to do just as He only did what the Father told Him to do (John 5:19). Paul on the other hand said: “…be imitators of me as I imitate Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).

We could never imitate Jesus’ redemptive work paying the price for the atonement of sin. We also know from scripture (Isaiah 53:12, Matthew 9:6, Mark 2:10, Luke 5:24 and Acts 5:31) that Jesus had (has) power to forgive sin, but I believe that we as His disciples does also. In John 20 Jesus spoke to His disciples and said “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld” (John 20:23). Even in Matthew 9:5 and Mark 2:9 Jesus compared the forgiveness of sins with being healed. Therefore if we are able and empowered to heal then surely it would also include the forgiveness of sins.

I do not totally agree with the fact that we need to preach about more than the Kingdom of God. I believe that everything we do in His Name proclaims and demonstrate the Kingdom of God.

The way Jesus used parables was unique to Him and also uniquely part of teaching and preaching at that time Jesus walked on the earth. I believe that we all are different and unique and have these unique qualities based on our past, personality etc. Our specific qualities are then used by God through the working of the Holy Spirit to proclaim His Kingdom. Just as the ministry of the early church was not 100% the same as that of Jesus, but it still carried the message of the Kingdom of God 100%.

“Sharing” and “love” are the threads woven throughout the ministry of the early church and that is exactly as Jesus wanted it to be, based on love! His commandment was to love one another and through this love be recognised as His disciples!

Clairborne (2006:232) expounds on the portion of scripture in Matthew 5: 46 – 47, where Jesus says that it is not an extraordinary thing to love your friends and relatives because even the pagans do that. Jesus explained that it is extraordinary when you love people who are different from us and to love even our enemies.

In this it is clear that the Kingdom of God should be central to the message preached today. We are to model the early church as they had direct contact and instructions from the Lord Jesus as to how to proclaim the Kingdom of God. Jesus instructed the disciples to inter alia baptise new believers, preach the gospel, cast out demons and to heal the sick. Luke 16:15 – 18 (The Passion Bible 2003).

We see that the disciples during the time of the Early church executed these instructions in the book of Acts in encounters such as healing the lame man in Acts chapter 3; the conversion and baptism of the gentiles in Acts chapter 10.

In the New Testament in 1 Corinthians 13 it speaks about how we should love. When we love like this we will be able to live out the Kingdom of God on earth. It is therefore of utmost importance that "the kingdom of God" should be the central theme of the message and ministry of the church today. The church must then focus on healing the sick, casting out demons, preaching the gospel, and teaching the truth.

I have notice that a specific understanding of the Kingdom of God is still not preached widely. We will all agree on the fact that we need to declare and proclaim the Kingdom just like Jesus did, but a certain reality is lacking.

I think that we do not advance the Kingdom of God because we do not understand the reality of the Kingdom. In Jesus himself, the King and his kingdom had come to earth. Wherever he was revealed and his ministry received, the kingdom advanced (Smith 2012:63). Paul wrote that the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17 ESV). To me it sounds like a delight, thus we need to delight ourselves in the Holy Spirit and so doing find entrance into the Kingdom of God. Even in Psalms we read that we need to delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalms 37:4). Paul also wrote that “the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV).

Our participation in the Kingdom of God is firstly spiritual and then it should also manifest physically. Paul made it clear that “…our sufficiency is from God, who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” (2 Corinthians 3:5-6 ESV). Jesus also said that it “…is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life (John 6:63 ESV). As we then participate in spirit we will also be able to do so physically. God said to Israel in the wilderness that they shall be unto Him a kingdom of priests and a holy nation (Exodus 19:6a ESV). My understanding of the priesthood is that the priests were intermediaries between the spiritual (God) and physical (man). We are all part of the priesthood of God (Revelations 1:6) and we need to make Jesus real – part of our daily living and experiences.

Jesus came to serve and to give His life for others, imparting life (Smith 2012:58), this is easily missed. I believe the Kingdom of God is grounded in love, thus a true disciple needs to serve and give his or her life as He did because we need to take up our crosses daily (Luke 9:23) and a cross was a tool of death at that time. Jesus said "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). The fact that He died that horrible death proofs His love for mankind. The more visible aspects of His Kingdom like healing the sick, casting out demons, preaching the gospel, and teaching the truth (Smith 2012:57) does not take away nor diminish His love for us. Jesus also said that we will be known to the world as His disciples through our love for one another (John 13:35). Thus the church’s motivation for demonstrating the power of the Kingdom should be love.

When John the Baptist doubted that Jesus was the Messiah, Jesus answered "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me" (Luke 7:22-23 ESV).

Jesus came first as Servant and Saviour; he will return as King and Judge (Smith 2012:110). Thus we need to be servants and saviours. No I’m not talking about saviours instead of Jesus, but priests who sacrifice their own lives to establish the spiritual Kingdom of God physically where people needs it. We are then directing and guiding people towards Jesus (spiritual Kingdom). As I’ve said before we need to introduce people to Jesus for they do not have other opportunities to meet Him. Even if the introduction have to be repeated a few times before they realise the truth of Jesus and His Kingdom.

Jesus said "…whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these …" (John 14:12). I do not claim to know what greater means, but I do think we tend limit ourselves when it comes to proclaiming the Kingdom of God.

I do not believe that it is possible to separate the power of the kingdom from love. Smith also said that “it usually takes several exposures to the gospel before a sinner comes to saving faith” (Smith 2012:65). Thus love needs to be evident in such a way that the sinner will have the freedom and boldness to respond.

Dallas Willard said “All people desperately need to know about the Kingdom of the Heavens and their life in it. So, that’s how you evangelize, you call people to discipleship by announcing the availability of the Kingdom now. That’s what Jesus did and then when people understood him they also understood that He was the King” (Willard 2005)

The church should be encouraged by the example of the Lord Jesus as in Luke 4:18-19 to know that the Holy Spirit will anoint them to preach the good news of the kingdom of God.

True grace is a free gift from the giver of grace.

We should not complain about anything especially not when somebody received grace. As a community we should be gracious to one another and rejoice when someone have received grace.

On the contrary we moan and complain about the unfairness of this world and about the one not getting what he or she deserve…

What is your identity?

No, I am not only asking you what you are doing, whats your profession or where you live.

You came from somewhere, you have a past and you are going somewhere, you have a future…

When you miss, or forget the complete picture you become so focused on the now that nothing els matters. Thus you lose your identity!

Your parents, family, friends, culture, beliefs, understanding and experience is also part of your identity. The fact that you are a daughter, mother, son, father, friend, grandparent or even lonely is also part of your identity.

Consider the fact that you are loved or hated by people, adored or ignored, this is also part of you identity…

Waarmee beklee jy jouself?

(Kolossense 3:12-17).

This is awful and sounds very disgusting to the most of us…

Eating Jesus’ flesh and drinking His blood sounds just as bad, so hard and difficult to do, because we do not understand these word. The truth is that Jesus Himself gave the answer to this:

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. (John 6:35 ESV)

We eat His flesh when we come to Him and we drink His blood when we believe in him…

But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” So the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. (John 4:32-34 ESV)

We also eat of God when we do His will and accomplish His work…

Father God, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit may we come near to You daily as we believe in You and seek Your will. Open our eyes to see You daily and our ears to hear You when you speak that we may know Your will and live it every second of every day! AMEN

Bekragtig God dagliks

Hy is naby, Hy sal my red, Hy is my God.
(Psalm 43:4, 5).

Tipe vas: ‘n Daniëls vas; normale eet-tye:

  • Kos: Groente/vrugte/neute/bone/water
  • (Koffie/tee is opsioneel)

(Openbaringe 3:15-16).

Voorgestelde gebeds-tye:

  • Oggende (5 min. tot 1 uur)
  • Middae (etenstye; 5 – 25 min.).

  • In nederige afhanklikheid.

(Sagaria 4:6).

Jy groei as jy uitgee.

NB!

Geliefdes in die Here!

Whom are you eating from?

Yes, I am a stirrer… a rebel!
My very life speaks of it!

No, not like Juju, I do not believe in politics.
Politics is a power struggle for power, but I am already “full of power by the Spirit of Jehovah” and therefore need no other.

Life is not only about politics, but have many other dynamics. It consists of systems that function collectively and influence one another. All the good and evil are thus shared amongst all these systems and the dynamic workings of these systems are the same, good and evil.

Mankind are all in the same boat, caught within the dynamics of these systems. Not able or willing to break free from it, and such is life.

Death is scary, painful and feared, but I am not talking about physical death. I am talking about separation from the true life through these life systems, killing you over and over again.

The only way to find this new life is to stop eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Choose then to eat from the tree of life. (Genesis 2:9, 17; 3:1-18). You have to accept that your current life is eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. You have to take the steps to stop it and start eating form the tree of life.

Eating from the tree of life is going to cost you something in a worldly sense. So eating of it as one who wades into a river , first ankle deep , then knee deep , then waist deep and then over your head (Ezekiel 47:1-12). This dedication will then produce short term and long term results.

The tree of life have different kinds of fruit and what ever you need, that fruit will be available for you. One of the most important fruits we need is WISDOM. We daily need to receive wisdom from the tree of life (James 3:13-18).

Our greatest fear is for the unknown and this fear might be standing between you and the tree of life. Yes, you have to totally and completely let go of everything and embrace this new life with absolutely everything within you. This is not a once-off thing, but a daily choice. Eat of the tree of life daily… The pips and seeds of the fruit we eat comes into our lives and starts growing. It will first shoot some roots and sometime later the first leaves will break through the dirt.

This is only the beginning and those new leaves are very tender. You might be stepped on a few times by big heavy feet or eaten by a worm… Still you have to make a stand. All the times you were almost destroyed your roots were still growing stronger and stronger. Pretty soon you will grow past this tender times and by making a stand over and over again your stem will become stronger and stronger.

These systems of the world are evil, because they are based on the knowledge of good and evil and we can not always differentiate between the two. But if these systems are built on truth only, they will stand and serve us.

To have faith in the word means to apply the word. We need to be encouraged to test it and to see the truth of the applied word so that we may know that we are participating in an unshakeable kingdom.

Love is the strength, the tool, the action, the dedication and the way we continue on through all these difficult times. Because true love comes from God and will drive out all fear and build you up, enabling you to become the man or woman He intended you to be before the foundations of this world. You are therefore taking part in God’s great plan for mankind…

…The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who cultivate peace.
(James 3:18)

You will never have true peace as long as you are seeking it amongst these systems that are driven by good and evil.

Father God teach us and remind us to find everything we need from the Tree of Life.

Wisdom is a tree of life to everyone who embrace it and the one holding on to it is happy (Proverbs 3:18).

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life (Proverbs 11:30).

A tongue that heals is a tree of life …(Proverbs 15:4).

Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. I will give the victor the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in God’s paradise. (Revelation 2:7)

For the bread of God is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. (John 6:33)

The Spirit is the One who gives life. The flesh doesn’t help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. (John 6:63)
